Chemin Neuf – Raising Hope: Empowering People, Protecting Our Common Home, Building a Sustainable Future.
Who We Are
Chemin Neuf – Raising Hope is a registered non-profit organization in Uganda (Reg No. 80034872984435) established as the secular arm of the Chemin Neuf Community in Uganda. Inspired by Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home (Laudato Si’), we translate the values and mission of the community into practical social, educational, and environmental initiatives for youth and local communities.
Our Key Project: Green Future Uganda
Developed to address environmental degradation, energy deficiency, and waste management challenges, the Green Future Uganda initiative empowers students, teachers, and school communities to become active stewards of creation.
Core Pillars of Intervention:
- Environmental Education: Expert curriculum delivered through ~32 hours of classroom & outdoor practical learning.
- Energy-Efficient Cooking: Installation of eco-stoves reducing firewood consumption by up to 65% in partner schools.
- Waste Management & Conservation: Plastic reduction campaigns, provision of waste bins, and tree planting initiatives.
- Green Livelihoods: Student-led micro-projects including mushroom growing and greenhouse farming.
